How can I share a slideshow from IPad Air on social media?

HI,

I've created a lovely slideshow using Photos on my IPad Air - using the origami effect but cannot find a way to share on the web, Twitter and facebook - I can only share via ICloud but I'd like to share publicly. All my searches suggested using apps, but they are limited and a bit too 'fun' for my project. Seems a shame to have this feature and not be able to save it as a video to share - any help out there?

thanks for reading

Hello there, cctheatre.

It sounds like you're trying to export a slideshow you've created in Photos for Mac to be able to share it on social media sites. The following link to the online Photos for Mac Help Guide provides the steps for exporting slideshow to video:

Export photos, videos, and slideshows - Photos Help

Export slideshows

You can export slideshows to share with others. When you export a slideshow, Photos creates a movie file with the video format that you select.

  1. Click Projects in the toolbar, then double-click the slideshow you want to export.

  2. Click Export in the toolbar.

  3. Enter a filename for your slideshow movie in the Save As field.

  4. Click the Format pop-up menu and choose a file type for the exported movie.

Standard definition (480p) is good for standard definition TV. If the slideshow will play on a high definition TV or display, choose one of the high definition formats: 720p or 1080p.

  5. To export the slideshow movie to iTunes so that you can transfer it to another device, select the Automatically Send to iTunes checkbox.

  6. Choose where to save the exported photo file, then click Save.

Once you've exported the file, it should be in a format that most social media websites find acceptable.

Hello again, Cctheatre.

Thanks for further clarifying your issue for me. I appreciate your follow up. It seems that currently the slideshows in iOS 9 are only shareable via AirPlay per the information we see here:

View photos and videos - iPad User Guide

Play a slideshow. While viewing a photo, tap User uploaded file, then tap Slideshow. Select options, then tap Start Slideshow. To stop the slideshow, tap the screen. To set other slideshow options, go to Settings > Photos & Camera.

To stream a slideshow or video to a TV, see AirPlay.

I did do a bit of searching in the App Store for iPad specific apps using the search string "Photos slideshow" and found a number of apps. One that seems to allow sharing across multiple of the more common Social Media platforms is:

Flipagram

Additionally, since this is a feature you would like to see, you might find it useful to submit feedback on the Photos app under iPad: http://www.apple.com/feedback
