Q: Return policy for Macbook

Hi!

I have a Macbook 12" 256 gb computer and I am not happy with it at all. It is extremely slow - cant handle basic tasks in finder, the internet constantly cuts out on it, the keys get stuck and the trackpad messes up all the time and the battery drains so quickly. I am beginning to regret making the change to the Macbook.

What is Apple's return policy? I have already taken it back to them once because of the battery but from their end they 'couldn't see anything unusual' but I know as a matter of face that the battery should not be draining as quickly as it is.

Can I say to them that I'm not happy with the product and get a refund or exchange or will they need evidence for this sort of thing?

Thanks a lot

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

Your signature includes Mavericks(10.9), which suggests you have had it a long time unless you haven't updated your profile entry.   Too long to claim a return option which includes the factors you mention, some of which could simply be your own fault for not installing something properly.   First thing I ask myself is whether the memory is sufficient for the tasks you expect.

I still have no idea of how old your machine actually is.   Go to the top menu, About this Mac > More info ... and tell me what the first four lines say.   No need to publish any more.

If you purchased the computer direct from official Apple Inc web site, or official retail Apple Store

your return options vary from those if you bought from an Authorized Reseller who is independent

and has their own return policy; several I've noted have no returns and will only repair the unit.

The official Apple Store and official online Apple Store do not accept returns from authorized resellers.

Unless due to AppleCare related failure where the unit was unsuccessfully repaired; by their discretion.

You may have up to 14-days from the time you purchased the computer to contact and arrange

for a return to the official Apple Store or the online official Apple Store. This may vary depending

on the country and location or region you live in. But it should be fairly consistent when dealing

direct with Apple, Inc and not some independent reseller who is an authorized agent, but not Apple.

I see your previous iMac was running OS X 10.9.5. -- 27" late 2012 iMac

Is it still working out OK, now? Just curious.

    {If not, that would be a topic for different ASC discussion section.}

Good luck with your 12-inch MacBook retina 2015...!
