Can one song show up in more than one album?

Hi All,

I'm trying to sort my massive music library out and I'm wondering if it's possible to have one song show up in more than one album? I know this wasn't possible in previous versions of iTunes, but I don't know if that may have changed by now. I've got several compilation albums that show up under various artists, but I'd also like to have some of the songs show up under the specific artist as well as under the various artists for the compilation - is this possible? Thanks in advance.

No. A music file can only have one album identity. If you wanted a copy of that track in two albums you would have to duplicate the file and then change the track information for one copy. If you only want a single file you can make a playlist representing an album if you have those tracks assembled from other albums, but each track will have to carry all the identity information such as track number from the original album. If you were to change it for your playlist album it would change for the original album.
