INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE after enabling Hyper-V in Windows 10 on Late-2015 27" 5k iMac

It didn't work for me. I still get the INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE blue screen on boot with the USB-to-Ethernet adapter plugged in with iMac retina 27 inch late 2015 model.

If you boot into Windows normally and then connect the TB-to-Ethernet adapter. Is the adapter recognized?

It was actually the ThunderBold-to-Ethernet that I tried not the USB-to-Ethernet (for some reason I didn't realize the difference until just now).

@Loner T, if I boot into Windows and then connect the ThunderBold-to-Ethernet it doesn't recognize it. I have to have it connected and then reboot.

I have a USB-to-Ethernet but I seem to have misplaced it, I will try with that once I find it and see if it works per Simple@Shanghai.

Any luck with the USB-to-Ethernet? I'm facing the exact same issue you are and am desperate to figure out a workaround...

Still can't find the dang thing, we are also in the middle selling our house and renovations so it has been pretty hectic.

You plug the TB end of the TB-to-Ethernet adapter into the back of the iMac in an available TB port.

What is the version of Windows?

To be more clear, what does the Ethernet side need to be plugged into? I tried it a few days ago with just the Thunderbolt in my iMac and that didn't do anything.

I'm currently using Windows 10.

These are from a 2012 MBP, using W10. Can you run msinfo32 and look for the following entries...

I found them (haven't tried to enable Hyper-V, even though all columns are "yes" as well). What were you wanting me to do with those settings? 🙂

What are the values set to before and after you see a crash/BSoD?

In my case, I cannot do this. After enabling hyper-v i am not able to boot into windows, not even safe mode works. The only thing I can do is to do the "reset computer" from within the bluescreen. After erasing everything, it boots into windows. I tried enabling Hyper-V on a clean install and I get the same problem.

CSM-BIOS layer seems to be critical for this functionality. It is not supported on 2015 and later Macs.

Just for sake of trying as I've seen someone say it works, can you try connecting a usb to ethernet adapter and go through the process. Note that it has to be usb to ethernet and not thunderbolt to ethernet.

Leave it disabled
