Q: Over 100 GB of disk space missing

Hi,

I own a MBP Retina 2012 with a 250gig SSD and the latest version of OSX El Capitan.

In the Finder and in Disk Info it says, 27 gig of free disk space left.

I did a check that with omnisweeper, because when I counted together my files, I couldn´t count more than around 130gigs.

Omnisweeper in its first window tells the same, but when it examined the HD it too found only 135gig of used space.

Here a couple of screenshots. "Sonstige" means "other".

Anyone any idea where the missing 120gig are?

I have just discovered the exact same problem. Mine says 128Gb of 'other' storage. Actually it keeps changing. It said 133Gb this morning and now it says 128Gb.
If you, or anyone, finds anything please post here. I have checked in support places but nothing seems to be the definitive answer. I know full well I haven't used that.

There is a bug in the program that produces that display. Often, but not always, a Spotlight reindex will correct it:

The versions feature, which automatically saves documents regularly is taking up a lot of space. These versions are saved in a directory called .DocumentRevisions-V100 on the root level.
I used omniDiskSweeper to delete that directory, which had the size of around 67GB. The trashing of it does not affect the documents that the user saved himself, only the automatically saved versions of them. And the programs work just fine afterwards.

So my HD is much better looking now. Good luck.
