Hello - I'm trying to create brochures and flyers and previously used Publisher. I understand publisher is not avail for Mac users. What would be used for similar purposes?

You might want to look at iStudio Publisher to find out if it meets your needs.
I found that it does for me.
Open source Scribus 1.5 is one possibility, or Swift Publisher 4 in the OS X App Store another. On the other end of the scale is InDesign or Quark.
As an addendum, Printworks is in the OS X App Store, and has superset features beyond Swift Publisher 4. Both are by the same company, and offer trial downloads from their website. The differences between Swift Publisher 4 and Printworks.
