Jan 29, 2016 6:36 PM in response to markfitterby SGIII,On the iPad you may need to update the app itself (not just the iOS).
On the Mac make sure you are opening the document with the version of Numbers that is in your main Applications folder (not the version that is in a subfolder). Unlike on the iPad, on the Mac you can have and run two versions of Numbers.

Jan 29, 2016 7:15 PM in response to SGIIIby markfitter,Using latest version (3.6.1), confirmed on both iMac and iPad. When attempting to open an iCloud document, I am still getting the prompt to update to the latest version of Numbers.

I don't think there exists a version 3.6.1 for iPad. Are you sure?
On the Mac try opening the app first and double-check in the menu Numbers > About Numbers that that version you are actually running is 3.6.1. Then File > Open from within the app and navigate to your document.

Jan 30, 2016 12:37 PM in response to SGIIIby markfitter,On the iPad, I assumed that Numbers was version 3.6.1. I am unaware of how to access that info on the iPad. In any case, I'm getting the same message on the iPad as the iMac. It is saying that I must have the latest version of Numbers to open the file. As I stated, I have confirmed that the version on the iMac that I am attempting to use is the latest, 3.6.1. The file will not open in the application. The file is stored in iCloud drive. I created a new file for testing in iCloud drive, saved it, and it opened without a problem. This leads me to think that the subject file may be somehow corrupted.

That's possible. Have you tried going to iCloud.com in your browser and opening it in Numbers for iCloud. If you can get it open then you can try downloading a copy (via the "tool" menu).

Jan 30, 2016 12:53 PM in response to SGIIIby markfitter,Yes, I have tried that, and it won't open. I also tried to drag and drop into my hard drive, and that won't work. I have also emailed it to myself, and it won't open from the email.
