Question

Has anyone ever gotten Internet recovery to work outside of inside an Apple Store

Everything I can find on the internet indicates only problems with Internet Recovery.

I have been unable to get anything other than 2000F errors after spinning the globe for about 30 minutes.

No clues as to what the error means or what to do about it.

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11), iMac Core i7 2.93GHz 4GB

I've done it many times. Both Internet and Network Recovery. Computers that can be upgraded to use OS X Internet Recovery.

Those errors indicate a problem with the network connection. It could be something as simple as a bad clock time or using a DNS other than your service provider's DNS.

You could try just restarting you router and modem.
