Thunderbolt Display keeps dropping out with sound

Hello, yesterday we had a supercell storm and during the storm we got a massive lightning strike in our front yard. Since then, the sound in my thunder bolt display keeps dropping out and then when I switch the sound back to my monitor the sound stays then drops out. I have restarted my laptop as suggested by other threads on the support forum. This is very irritating for me as I prefer the sound on my monitor rather than the low quality sound in my laptop.
