URLs not working in Safari or Mail after iOS 9.2.1

After updating my iPad Air 2 iOS 9.2.1, I experienced Safari crashing when trying to open a new tab. I solved this problem by disabling Search Engine Suggestions and Safari Suggestions in Settings, as recommended. However now, if I've done a search, I cannot open any of the links in that search. If I type a specific URL in the Search Box, then I can open the page, but am unable to sign in, use any links from that page, etc. Also, I find that I am unable to open any URL links that I receive in Mail and tapping on a link then locks up Mail... I have done a full sync to my iMac, which can sometimes rectify a problem, but it hasn't helped in this instance.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi Scott, folks,

yes, someone is rolling in the grave 😢 .

In the meatime some of you are doing research on the problem. I got booking.com too, if I wanted to remove it i would have to delete the app, do a full backup (iTunes) and restore everything. A job for a day, because there is a lot of data on my iPad and apps which have to be configured after a restore. So that does not make sense for me. And it might be that the booking app has been created with some development kit other apps are created with as well. So there may be (many) more apps causing the bug. My iPhone has the booking app as well and is still working without any problem.

Conclusion, Apple staff do your job, and do it now!

The heavily increasing number of posts here shows that on many (if not all) devices some time bomb is waiting. Since I am responsible for a heap of devices used by the staff of the company I work for, I am really fearing the first messages from them telling me the problem has arrived on their iPads and iPhones as well.

Some reports on the bug are showing on different websites now, hope that helps, although some are reducing it to an(other) update problem of 9.3 which is not the case.

Again, I hope Apple is waking up now!

Same problem as other users. One thread suggests a fix within a couple of days - that was on 25th and nil yet. The reset suggested by apple on one thread does nothing. Neither does disabling java. Result is ipad unusable for surfing. And apple isn't making any official announcements.

BTW my husbands iPhone 6 is increasingly demanding that he switch to 9.3. What took one click to remove message now takes 2. Perhaps apple would like to get its programming correct first before suggesting we switch for a "better more secure" service.

So I was using my Iphone 5s yesterday quite happily then I got the "link of death" issue. cant use safari or link from emails just freezes or does nothing!!!

How can it just stop working mid use, no update, wasnt adding apps or doing anything...almost like a virus had infected the phone!

APPLE why is there such a deafening silence on this issue. Clearly 9.3 didnt work and appears 9.2.1 is no better...at least put out a statement stating acknowledgment of the issues and estimated time for fix?
