Feb 21, 2016 10:24 AM in response to Mrs C Spainby Dr_O,I had updated my iPad Air 2 and iPhone 5s to 9.2.1 a couple of days before going on a vacation. I didn't notice any issues with Safari before leaving. On vacation, the iPad started acting up like everyone else has been writing in this thread. I had to resort to my iPhone to surf the web. Not the best user experience!
After my return, I tried clearing the cache, and reinstalling iOS (including the backup). Unfortunately, the issues are still there. But, I have found out that if I open a website and click on links that remain in that same site then everything seems to work. Example: Open Facebook in Safari and click on links to other users - these do work. But clicking on a link to content outside of Facebook, then nothing happens. Holding a finger on any link, be it inside of that site or outside, for too long (context menu activation) will freeze Safari.
Does that sound familiar to you?

Feb 21, 2016 1:43 PM in response to Dr_Oby Mrs C Spain,All too familiar... When is Apple going to admit the problem and provide a fix? My iPad is rendered useless without the backup of my iPhone...

Feb 22, 2016 12:14 AM in response to Mrs C Spainby morralletti,iPad Air 2 updated to iOS 9.3 beta and the problem continues. Safari, Mail and Google Chrome (WKWebview?) freeze with links.

And it is bad news that 9.3 beta does not fix it .

Feb 26, 2016 5:43 PM in response to xilvestreby Alessandroci,IiPhone 6s 128 and IPad Air. Both with this same problem. The only absurd solution a fabric restore but without restore from backup. So all my data lost. Thank you Apple

Feb 27, 2016 12:14 AM in response to Alessandrociby morralletti,The problem continues with iOS 9.3 beta 4 on iPad Air 2. I also have iPhone 5, iPhone 5S and iPad Air 1 without any problem with Safari, Mail and links.

Feb 28, 2016 3:22 AM in response to Mrs C Spainby Dr_O,It seems that the only remedy for this issue is to do a full restore without restoring from a backup. It worked for me. Lots of work, though, but many things are already on iCloud and other cloud services. I won't say it is fixed because we don't know what the ultimate cause of this issue is. It may therefore return.
As a restore is a at least temporary solution to this issue to which we don't know the cause, I doubt that Apple will provide a fix.

Feb 28, 2016 3:49 AM in response to Dr_Oby andres1712,Same problem.
My temp solution, mentioned above w more detail, of substituting Mail by CloudMagic and Safari by Chrome works great >80% of the time. I complement w Mercury and , of course, Mail & Safari.
This has taken the pressure off me and I'm relaxed using my iPad again!
As you said, it's a big pain attempting to recover from all the different backups, iCloud, Dropbox, etc etc and at the end there are no guarantees that solution will hold longer term.

Mar 10, 2016 3:54 PM in response to valterfromriminiby poacher68,Hi everybody.
I first contributed to this thread in early February and by this morning I still had the same problem on my iPad Air 2, as does my wife on hers. So today I thought - what the .... I will erase all content and settings and start again. Back to square one. No restore from back up. No restore from iTunes. Simply set up as a new iPad. Took hours. Still not quite finished.
Settings says I have the latest version of 9.2.1 on the newly set up Air 2. Guess what - I STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH SAFARI AND LINKS, INCLUDING MAIL HYPERTEXT!!
This week I swapped my old iPhone 4s for an iPhone 6. Set it up with a lot of the stuff I have on my iPad. Safari works fine on the iPhone 6! The 6 has 9.2.1.
Strangely when I sync the 6 with iTunes I am told a new version of 9.2.1 is available. I am not going to update the 6!!
For one moment this evening I thought I had found the problem. On the iPhone 6 the version of 9.2.1 is (13D15). On the Air 2 it is (13D20). But (13D20) was released after I first had problems with the Air 2.
When will this end?!

Mar 11, 2016 7:15 PM in response to Mrs C Spainby MouseOnVenus,I have exactly the same problem with my brand new 6S Plus 128 GB. No links will open in Safari after doing a Google search.
I updated to 9.2.1 through Wifi. Strangely, when I connected to iTunes the following day, I received a message in iTunes that a new version (9.2.1) is available.
Very annoying.
