Question

Will my imac late 2012 run El Capitan?

I have a late 2012 27" imac 3.4 GHx Intel core i7, with 32 gb of ram

I'm currently running on os 10.8.5

I need to upgrade my os

I believe the only option available is El Capitan

Is El Cap going to run smoothly on my machine?

I hear tales of reduced performance and speed on machines of this vintage

Hi,

It will run absolutely fine under el Capitan, your iMac is surely no vintage machine... Capitan works even faster than Yosemite (10.10).

There are ways to upgrade to Mavericks (10.9) instead, but you will need a friend that has a Mac who has installed Mavericks, and give you the Mavericks install file.

You have all the facilities needed to run El Capitan successfully without any great difference in speed, indeed, it will probably be faster.
