Can't write to external hard drive
I'm trying to copy files to an external hard drive via firewire 800 and I keep getting an error that file 'names are too long for the destination' (even if the file names are just 1 short word). Reading files from the external disk works fine.
The drive is a 6 TB G-TECH G-RAID, formatted as a Journaled HFS+ volume. I verified the disk in Disk Utility and everything appears ok. Permissions in the Finder says that I have Read & Write access.
The only thing that changed since I last used the drive successfully was I reverted the OS from 10.7 back to 10.5. I don't remember having to format the drive initially though, it was plug and play right out of the box IIRC. Anyone know what could be going on?
