ATI grafix shown as ATY in profiler

Can anyone tell me why in sys profiler, the graphics will show as ATYx1600,instead of ATIx1600

Chipset Model: ATY,RadeonX1600
Type: Display
Bus: PCIe
VRAM (Total): 128 MB
Vendor: ATI (0x1002)
Device ID: 0x71c5
Revision ID: 0x0000
EFI Driver Version: 01.00.068

Also, is there any update (driver) that will allow more control over video settings?

Hi and welcome to Discussions,

with my iMac the sys profiler shows the same apart from the 256 VRAM I Have.
Son't know that's so, but it also doesn't bother me as long as it functions perfectly, which it does.

Apple delivers new driver seldomly stand-alone, but mostly as part of OSX Updates, so if you have OSX 10.4.8 installed then you are on the newest one.

Have Fun

Stefan
