Q: What has happened to all my icloud content above 5gig?

I have a subscription for the 1TB storage package. My Mastercard was skimmed this month, my bank detected fraud and cancelled it. The subscription payment failed. Instantly all content above 5gigs disappears. I enter the re-issued card details within 24 hours of notification of the isssue. The 1TB storage has not been reinstated. Where has the content gone?I entrust icloud with keeping my precious photos, backups and other content safe. This is pretty disappointing. Can I rely in iCloud?
