Q: Will my iPod photo's 30 pin connector get replaced?

I have an iPod photo and the problem is that one day I simply pulled the cable off without squeezing the cable then the connector got spoilt. Will the apple authorised service centre replace it or is it a losing battle?

I live in India so there are actually no real apple stores where I can ask

Thanks

Internally, that dock connector is a component that is permanently attached to the logic board.  So the logic board will need to be replace as the repair.

Apple no longer services that model; it is over 10 years old at this point.  However, you may find other independent electronics repair shops in your area with Apple expertise.  Since it is not a warrantied repair, the work does not need to be "Apple-Authorized."

If you are technically inclined, this web site has repair guides

The logic board part my be costly.  My suggestion is to find a broken iPod of the same type (needs to be color screen 4th gen iPod like your iPod) that is broken due to a bad hard drive (most common reason), and use its logic board.  OR, if that donor iPod is in better shape overall compared to your iPod, transplant your working hard drive into it.
