My Mac Computer using El Capitan no longer prints to Epson printer. States "communication error"; have updated all computer and printer software & drivers. Please advise? Thank you.

Start by resetting the printing system by following the instructions in Reset Printing System and then re-install the printer per OS X El Capitan: Add or remove a printer.
Thank you for your help. I have reset the printer system as you suggested. Now, sometimes the printer works and sometimes it won't. I keep resetting printer system but the problem keeps coming back. Also, it is very slow for the MAC to send Information to printer. Advice appreciated.
