Jan 30, 2016 9:40 PM in response to Sre16mlmby bryan.vance,That's odd...
Apple shouldnt be swapping out phones for software bugs...
Software issues cannot be resolve by having the phone replaced, because you just restore your backup with the issue to the next phone.
So can you elaborate how Siri quit working?Does it nt speak?
Does it not understand what you say?

Jan 31, 2016 9:38 AM in response to Sre16mlmby Jomale111,This happened to my husbands iPhone 6 as well after doing the latest 9.2.1 update.
He can be heard on phone calls and can do voice memos but cannot use SIRI or doing voice texting. SO it is not the microphone and it IS the iOS update causing the problem only to certain hardware models. I did the update just now on my iPhone 6sPlus with no issues.
I reset the phone and did all the other suggestions on forums since 12/2015 when users started having the issue during beta testing and nothing works. We do not sync the phone with the PC so doing a full wipe and re-adding is the only thing left to do. I will not do that since i am convinced it is the software. It worked fine prior to the update.
Suggestions on December's thread suggest switching the SIRI voice to British.. that didn't help.
Good Luck.

Jan 31, 2016 10:03 AM in response to bryan.vanceby Sre16mlm,Just to clarify, apple has swapped out my phone twice for the camera defects and once for wifi just quit working. Now Siri acts like it cannot hear my voice. I try to speak messages, directions, questions and nothing happens. I tried to reboot. I tried to reset settings. I tried "hey siri" and it cannot hear me.

Jan 31, 2016 10:05 AM in response to Jomale111by bryan.vance,Thats not exactly a correct assumption.
Updates don't damage hardware.
So did you know there are actually 3 mins on an iPhone.
You can't assume that because the mic for voice memos and calls works that it would work for Siri too.
Bottom mic at the base of the enclosure records for calls and voice memos.
This can be tested with the aforementioned voice memos.
The front mic is what is used for Siri and dictation.
Its actually located in the receiver mesh where you put your ear on a call.
You can test this mic by taking a front facing video of you snapping your fingers.
The rear mic is used in noise cancelling and rear facing video.
You can test it by taking a rear facing video of you snapping your fingers.
Im just throwing it out there but the most common cause of the front mic not working is actually debris in the receiver. You will not be able to see it with your naked eye.
You would be able to see it with a magnifying glass.
Clear the receiver
The iPhone receiver won't work properly if it's blocked or dirty.
Follow these steps, testing after each:
- Make sure nothing is blocking the receiver, such as a case or film.
If you have a new iPhone, remove the plastic film on the front and back of the device. - Check the receiver opening to see if it's blocked or dirty. If necessary, clean the receiver opening with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush.
- While you're on a call, turn on speakerphone. If you still can't hear, then your network or reception could be the issue. Try calling again later or from a different location.

Jan 31, 2016 10:10 AM in response to bryan.vanceby Sre16mlm,It responds to me by saying "Sorry, I did not get that" so it cannot hear me. There is nothing over the mic and it is not dirty. I cleaned it just in case.

Jan 31, 2016 10:14 AM in response to Sre16mlmby bryan.vance,Test the front mic by taking a front facing video of you snapping your fingers.
Im telling you that you will not be able to see the debris due to it being black.

Jan 31, 2016 12:32 PM in response to bryan.vanceby Jomale111,The software drivers disabled the microphone for some apps. IT didn't damage the hardware. Excuse me for not being specific. The phone's microphone for SIRI and voice texting worked prior to the update, but didn't immediately after.. Phone calls and Voice Memos are fine. I did "clean' the microphone. As the user has a good case and is very good at taking care of the phone there was none.
On the developers thread, beta testers were complaining of this problem in December of 2015.
