Upgraded to Photos and all Albums in iPhotos Disappeared

Now, Albums only list events. I had all pictures organized via albums, including several smart albums. How can I recover my albums? Please advise. Thank you.

Thank you. It was helpful to see how it is meant to work. Looking at this:

If a Smart Album from iPhoto or Aperture uses only conditions that Photos doesn't support, Photos won't display that album. For example, an Aperture Smart Album that contains only photos edited in an external editor won't appear in Photos.

I have only used iPhoto to edit picture or organize my albums. Confused why they still didn't transfer over. Is there some information on how to retrieve albums or view them if they are no longer shown? Doesn't seem like I am the only one who has encountered this issue.

Again all albums should - please describe the albums that did not

and smart albums will except if they use criteria not available in Photos - please describe the criteria for the ones that did not transfer

photos edited in an external editor is just one example of why they might not transfer - others include criteria based on the event a photo is in (photos has no events) - to get help you have to provide details not jsut abstrace problem saying that somehting did not work - and you need to tell us hat version of the OS and of Photos you have
