Q: DNS Unlocker Removal for Mac and iPhones

Hi All,

I am using a Late 2009 iMac running Yosemite, a 2012 Macbook pro running El Capitan and iPhone 6plus - all are affected by the above mentioned adware.

I've been digging some how to remove's in the internet, replaced and tried the DNS server using google DNS to test, follow the instructions on removing extensions, etc. from another forum sites but still to no avail, cannot remove this persistent DNS unlocker (an adware that keeps on popping up on site, even replacing the sites to redirect to ads landing page...

Can anybody help. pls?

Michael

Thanks Thomas... what's with #3 in the article I found? [letter to the editor time?]

That's Windows-related stuff. I'm not sure whether there is actual DNS Unlocker malware for Windows, or if that page just is giving generic advice that may not actually be specific to this issue. I've always suspected that malwaretips.com is just click-farming, with pages on all the various malware and adware out there giving almost identical advice.

    Hi Linc Davis,

So sorry for my late reply as i've been away for work. Here's a screenshot of a specific example of the page. Sometimes, you don't have to click the link...it will automatically redirect to another ad landing page....

    Hi Thomas_r,

Sorry for my delayed reply. I  tried following your advice but currently, I can't seem to connect via modem. As far as I can remember, I can connect automatically (plug and play).

I'm not sure why that might be, and it would probably take longer to try to troubleshoot that through this forum than it would for you to get a tech from your internet service provider to come out and check the hardware. I'd recommend taking that course of action at this point.
