Can i restore photos from my water-damaged Ipod 5th Gen?

I need help help immediately.

I was using my Ipod 5th Gen. with wet hands and noticed that it quickly shut off on me as I was using it. As soon as I got home I placed it in rice for about 24hours and tried to turn it on but nothing happened. I even tried connecting it to my laptop and going onto itunes but it won't show up on that either.

Now I am just wondering whether there is a way I can save all my photos that are stored on the Ipod 5th Gen. I've tried those recoverysystem programmes that you must download but they require a step where I must hold down the power and home button but it still won't work.

Please help...

iPod touch (5th generation), iOS 8.1.2

No, it's gone, unless you already have a backup.
