Selecting an app with remote
Is this on the new Apple TV? Swipe gently over the touchpad on the remote until you have hghlighted the app concerned (it will get a bit bigger) then press the touchpad to open it.
If it's an older ATV use the up-down and left-right buttons then press OK.
Thanks I've tried that but it takes me to the top of the screen away from the app
Are you using the latest ATV4 with the black faced remote? If so, try placing your finger dead center on the touch pad when pressing firmly down.
I might be having the same problem. While trying to use the remote it jumps all over in different directions. for example if I swipe up, it might go right, left or down... and once and a while actually up... its quite an adventure!
I did a software update and restart and it helped... it is now more consistent but I still have problems.
I cannot get the remote app to work from my iPhone even when it worked fine for months until today.
Sounds like a bad remote. Take it back to Apple and get a replacement. My remote works flawlessly.
How do I select an app with the remote, I have to use another remote for this its very frustrating?
