Q: My Magic Mouse battery cover will not release and come off as it is supposed to?

My Magic Mouse battery cover will not release when I push the black button toward the outside edge of the mouse. Is there a safe way to release the battery cover without damaging of scratching the mouse? Or, should I just "buck up" and take it into the Apple store?

MacBook Air, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

Hello wstclaire,

It opens in a slightly different fashion. Take the mouse, hold it firmly upside down (green light and sensor at the top) and with your finger nail, flick at the black rectangle in a downwards direction. It might not look like it but there is just a fraction of space to allow it to move.

I did that and and the 51st click it worked. I have been attempting the same thing for two weeks. I appreciate the support...
