Mac Pro with 17-inch Studio Display (CRT)?
Hiya,
I bought recently a Mac Pro with a X1900 graphics card in order to replace my PowerMac G4 (Gigabit Ethernet). My first monitor is an Eizo L568 and because my second monitor is a 17-inch studio display (CRT), I also bought the DVI to ADC adaptor.
When I connected and switched on everything, the studio display didn't work at all - the screen just remained black, although in the system profile, I could see the display model and the resolution.
When I connected the studio display again to my PowerMac G4, it worked perfectly fine.
So, I called the Apple Support, and we came to the conclusion that the adaptor must be broken. So, they sent a new one, with which I have the same problem.
When I called Apple again, they told me that it is very unlikely that the second adaptor is broken as well, and therefore blame either the computer or the display to be malfuncioning.
So, they told me to bring the entire setup to an Apple Authorised Service Centre so that they can check it. Problem is that it will take me several hours to get all the stuff to the centre, and they want to keep it for some days, which means that it will take me several hours to pick up all the stuff again.
Is someone out there, who could confirm that either this setup does work or that this setup does NOT work?
At least if I knew that this setup does work, I would consider to bring the computer there in order to get it fixed - otherwise it wouldn't make sense.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Best regards,
Stephan
