I actually have the exact same problem. Noticed it a few days after I set up my new 4K iMac. It's been two months now and the problem is still there, no better or worse. I accepted it as a known benign HDD issue (fusion drive config) because I couldn't find any info on the symptom, or anyone else who had noticed the same problem...until now!
Just wondering, did you receive your new unit? Is the problem gone? Any confirmation from Apple on root cause of the problem?

Apple is telling me that it is environmental (which is ludicrous, I've had an electrician come out to test the electrical work, I've upgraded internet, everything). They have built me three machines to date and insist that they've never heard of this before.
Mine is a custom built 21.5" 4k Retina, 2 TB, 16 RAM. All three of them. I'm working on Beep Machine #3 as I type this.
Can you give an update on your situation? I've been in constant contact with Apple Exec team since July (I had mistakenly thought it was coming from the UPS it was connected to, I didn't realize it was the machine itself until then).
