I thought I would start this discussion again in 2016 with the fact that Thunderbolt Displays connected to a MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2012) still has issues waking up (and in my case I have external HHD connected to the display so they are disconnecting as well).
I have seen some try hibernate modes and I see both sides of the discussion argue for and against. My question is why after having this display now for 4 years is there still an issue with the MacBook Pro sending what ever it needs to the thunderbolt display to wake it up?
