Podcast app randomly "saved" several episode today

The podcast app randomly "saved" a bunch of old episodes of podcasts today.

It didn't just mark a bunch of old episodes as "unplayed" as its done frequently in the past, it actually went ahead and SAVED old episodes. I've been going through my podcast feed and manually deleting these episodes all day.

Usually to "save" an episode it requires manual intervention by the user. How could all these episodes be downloaded en masse? Can I prevent this, or is it just time to find a new podcast app, since Apple's has a lot of problems and keeps getting worse?
