Q: Nightstand mode without charger

Hi all,

Is there any way to have the nightstand mode turned on when the watch isn't charging? I normally get about two days use out of the watches' battery, therefore it normally doesn't get charged every night.

Is there anyway or even an app that can let me use the nightstand mode but without the watch charging?

Kind regards,

Thanasie

    Yeah, that's what I thought. It would be nice for Apple to make it available whilst not charging in the next version of Watch OS.

    The only thing I'm worried about is charge cycles of the battery and depleting the battery earlier than normal. Then again Apple don't charge a great deal of money for battery replacement in their products.

    Thanks for your quick response Brian.

    Kind regards,

    Hi Thanasie

    You can charge your battery whenever you like.

    Apple lithium-ion batteries work in charge cycles. One charge cycle is completed when you have used (discharged) an amount that equals 100% of battery capacity, but not necessarily all from one charge. One charging cycle would be completed, for example, after:

    - Two charges to full, each starting from 50%, or;

    - One charge to full from a starting level of 80% plus one charge to full starting from 20%.

    The battery in Apple Watch is designed to retain up to 80% of the original capacity after 1,000 complete charging cycles.

    Hi Jonathan,

    I knew about the charging cycles and after 1000 retaining 80% capacity but didn't know about the charging cycle amounting 100%. Think I'll keep all of my Apple stuff charged more without the need to worry about battery level.

    Thank's for you're help!
