Q: Network

I have a network using wireless with many Apples and a Linux Server running Samba.

Sometimes the apples computers find the shares in network and sometimes doesn't find.

I changed the shares from Samba to AFP Server, but the problem continues.

In the same network I have a MacBook sharing a printer:

Sometimes the other computers can print and sometimes they can't

printer not found.png

Does somebody know about that?

Hmmmm, is the IP of the MacBook sharing the Printer changing? Or the Interface?

Also in Sharing Pref Pane>Computer Name, see if that has changed or had numbers appended to it's name.

The computer uses DHCP, but it gets always the same IP (server configured).

Is anything using a Static IP on the Network?

One thing I don't understand is in your 1st post it says connection USB, but the errors indicate some network/IP connection problem!???

    Is Printer Sharing being used?

Is the Printer connected to this Mac, or a USB port on a Router or such?

The local imac (imac-ana) prints perfectly (using UBS), but the other macs on network some times print, some time no print in this shared printer.

I intend to use a print server, Mac doesn't work.

I don't know why, but it seems to be having trouble initiating an SSL connection when it doesn't work.

Yes, the clocks is always sync.

Forget MacOS, I will take a print server to resolve this problem.

    I like apple's hardwares, but I hate apple's softwares.

    From the log…

    E [17/Aug/2015:10:19:04 -0300] [Client 25] Returning IPP client-error-not-possible for Cancel-Job (ipps://iMac-de-Ana.local.:631/printers/HP_LaserJet_Pro_MFP_M125a) from 192.168.99.57

The computer name is imac-ana and it is configured in /etc/hosts in server:

    127.0.1.1 LED
    192.168.99.2 led
    192.168.99.101 imac-ana

    These do not match.

I don't know why you are defining the hostname in /etc/hosts, it may not be relevant but I have never done this on a Mac.

    Is it needed BDAqua?

Macs generally look services up via bonjour (whatever.local) defined in the Sharing section of System Preferences, I don't think a different hostname will help.

You can investigate the bonjour records via 'dns-sd' in Terminal or use Bonjour browser.

    https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/documentation/Darwin/Reference/ManPages/ man1/dns-sd.1.html

I haven't used this on 10.11, so you may want to look for alternatives, it was fine on earlier releases  http://tildesoft.com/

I would also start searching for some of the CUPS error strings on the internet, it may lead you down the right path.

Drew Reece, you are right, it doesn't necessary, but it was a tried to resolve the problem.

After my post, I changed the hostname in imac-ana. Maybe it resolves.

    Great catch Drew!

I think the only thing needed in hosts is this...

    ##

    # Host Database

    #

    # localhost is used to configure the loopback interface

    # when the system is booting.  Do not change this entry.

    ##

    127.0.0.1    localhost

    255.255.255.255    broadcasthost

    ::1             localhost

OSX Server might be different, no idea.
