Wi-Fi @  TV

Hello folks,

So I got this stupid situation which I couldn't figure out: I travel frequently with my  TV and trying to access the internet in the hotels I stay in but I get stuck at some point where I access the hotel network regularly "through my iPhone or Mac" and then a pop menu shows for authentication to enter the username and password and access the internet at the end.

Now the question is: how the **** can I get that pop up menu or enter the authentication details for the apple TV and use access the internet through?

Please help if someone went through a similar situation or has an idea!

Thanks,

Hassan

The Apple TV does not support captive networks. if you write down your MAC address the hotel may be able to connect it that way. or another option (I travel quit a bit as well) I have bought the HDMI dongle and connect my iphone/iPad/MacBook directly to the tv so I don't actually travel with the ATV. I have other devices that limit the weight and volume for packing and ease of use...

After further research, you can share an ETHERNET connection via wifi from the Mac. But like with the iPhone, it cannot send /receive wifi at the same time. So assuming the hotel offers an Ethernet port in room you could share the connection from a Mac to the ATV. But you cannot connect the Mac to wifi and expect it to be a wifi hotspot for other devices at the sametime...
