Photos - export status bar?

I'm exporting around 90Gb of photos and videos (1000's of items) to an external drive as a backup.

I can't see a status bar to indicate how much has already exported, either as an estimate time or as a percentage - does this exist? At the moment I am looking at the hard drive light flash on and off, but nothing more advanced than that.

I dare say it's a feature staring me in the face, but would be grateful for any leads...

Actually

I had the same problem but looking around on google I found out that there's an export status bar. ( I use MacOS Sierra 10.12.1).

I found this post

https://www.reddit.com/r/apple/comments/338fgn/new_photos_app_psa_exporting_vide o_does_not_show/

and one reply says that the export status is found by going on the "Photos" section on Photo (top option on the left menu)

There, if you are undergoing an export operation, you can see a small pie next to the small-large photo size slider.

The pie gives you an idea of how much you have exported, but if you click on it you get the exact figure.

Not easy to find, but it is there...

There is indeed no progress bar to indicate the progress. It is happening as a background process. You can enable an alert in the System Preferences > Notification, so you will see a banner in the Notification center, when the export has finished:

To see, how much has been exported, open the folder on your external drive in the Finder. You can see, how much has already been written to that folder this way.
