Q: How to change ownership and cloud settings ipad?

My wife now has an iPad 4 and I have inherited her iPad 2.

We both have iCloud accounts.

How do customize the 2 without messing up her 4? Do I simply sign her out of the cloud and then sign myself in? Is there anything else 'Apple wise' that I need to do to complete the 'change of ownership' process?

    The instruction:

Tap Settings > iCloud. Scroll down and tap Sign Out. In iOS 7 or earlier, tap Delete Account.

I presume that just deletes the cloud account from the device and not the account on the server?

That is correct. The iCloud data and settings, etc. remain in the cloud. That only deletes the account, data and settings from the device itself. I have deleted my iCloud account from my phone and iPads more than a few times when trying to troubleshoot problems. All data downloaded again when I signed into iCloud again.

Finally getting around to doing this....

Once I've followed your linked instructions, the 'cleaned, reset' device is still registered in her name or # or something(?) w/Apple in some way, no? Isn't there a process I would need to go through w/Apple to unregister the device from her and register it to me?

Are you seeing something that leads you to believe that it is still linked to her account in some way? If you were able to activate the device without using her Apple ID and password, then you have successfully unlinked the device from her account. You are good to go and need do nothing more.

This was a pre-go checklist item ;-). Got it now.

    Thanks,
