Where does a screen shot go? Using El Capitan 10.11.3 on iMac. A screen shot used to go to Preview with an icon on the desktop. I recently updated El Capitan. Now when I attempt a screen shot, it quickly says "sharing" but I can't find where it went!

The default is the desktop and the only way to change it is through the Terminal.
Try restarting your iMac.
Thank you to all who have attempted to help! I did some digging around and figured it out. Here's the scoop so maybe will help someone else! The teeny-tiny message at the top right of the screen is so small that it is unable to read, and it disappears so quickly. Yes, it also put it on the desktop but disappeared quickly.
Eventually found the screen shots in Dropbox and opened them in Preview. Took some time, but found my answer!

Congratulation, you find the answer by your self. It's a feature of Dropbox.
The feature can be disabled on Dropbox if you don't like it.

Thank you all for your suggestions. Found the "easy" way to change it was to uncheck the box in Dropbox. Now the screenshot simply goes to the desktop, then to preview, which is the way I like it!! Thanks again.
