Feb 4, 2016 8:23 AM in response to Phil Rustby Michael Engelhart1,I have noticed this as well. I'm actually working on an OS X application for streaming audio and Airplay only recognizes my Apple TV but not my Airport Express. My phone and iTunes on my Mac all can find the airport express just fine...

Feb 4, 2016 8:29 AM in response to Phil Rustby QuickTimeKirk,You're trying to "mirror" and I'd guess your machine is too old to do that.

Feb 4, 2016 8:39 AM in response to QuickTimeKirkby Michael Engelhart1,What machine are you referring to? The airport express? My Mac is only a year old and running El Capitan.. .This feature worked until recently too.

Feb 4, 2016 8:58 AM in response to QuickTimeKirkby Phil Rust,You seem to have sent instructions on how to use airplay with IOS devices.
However as previously stated I have an issue with OSX.
To clarify - I am sending from a Macbook pro to an airplay enabled device.
I used to be able to option-click on the speaker in the toolbar to send
audio to these devices, and now I can't. I wondered whether the change was
intentional or a bug in El Capitan.
Airplay can be switched on and off to these devices in itunes, but I cannot
send system audio anymore.
The disabling of airplay mirroring for video is understandable, as older
graphics cards don't have the grunt to mirror, however airplay audio has
worked fine for years, it just seems that some pretty basic features are
missing.
Many Thanks
P
