Printer Driver for Canon PIXMA MX850

There does not appear to be a printer driver for the Canon PIXMA MX850 for the El Capitan OS X 11 operating system on my iMac. I was previously printing fine on the printer with my MACbook running Yosemite 10.10.5. Has anyone been able to successfully use the latter driver with El Capitan OS X 11? I called Canon and they said that they no longer provide driver software updates for this printer since 2014. Thanks for any advice you may have.

The last driver that Canon released for the MX850 was for OS X 10.9. This driver should install and function on 10.11 so here is a link from Canon Australia.

If you have no success in getting this driver to work then you can look at using Gutenprint.
