Manual backup to PC. message "there’s not enough free space".  My last backup was 1.3GB four weeks ago.   My drive is 256GB total with over 162GB available.  I'm not using encryption. I'm running windows 10 with 4GB system memory, iOS 9.2.1, and iTunes 12.3.2.35.  The only thing that has realIy changed is the latest update to iTunes. I found this page and tried the steps.

If you can't make an iTunes backup of your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

I've cleaned out my recycle, done the restart of both my iPhone 5s and my computer, unplugged all usb device except iPhone and mouse, Checked my security software (turned it off), reset the lockdown folder.  Uninstalled/reinstalled iTunes 12.3.2.35.  No joy.

I can do the manual backup on my wife's PC, she's got over 500GB available and is using the same version of iTunes but on Windows 7.  Any ideas?

Is the part of the computer that, by default, stores the backup on a smaller partition by any chance?

    The part being \Users\yourusername\appdata\roaming\apple computer\mobilesync\backup.

If it is not, the other thing I would imagine trying would be to temporarily move the backups that are in that above folder out of there and test if the prior backup is the problem with not being able to backup now.

Thanks Metaprog,   I only have a single partition on that drive.  The fix was removing the previous backup to another location, went right through backup after that.  I'm going to delete that old backup.

See Make a split library portable and the box regarding the relocation of any iOS backups. This can free up needed space on an SSD drive. If your library is split and in the older layout then your apps could be being stored on the system drive in which case the rest of the tip should prove useful.
