can't access bootcamp from start up screen

For many years i have operated a partitioned hard drive running Windows 7 on a bootcamp partition. I have never had trouble accessing bootcamp either through parallels or booting up directly to bootcamp. I recently upgraded to OSX El Capitan. My parallels version 6.0 is no longer compatible with El Capitan. So I have tried to boot directly to bootcamp (holding down option key as the mac restarts). At the start up screen, I no longer have the option of selecting the bootcamp drive. It only displays the mac drive and the recovery drive. Can someone please help me get into bootcamp?

I need to get into Windows to extract a few files and then I plan to delete the partition, repartition the hard drive, install windows 10 and parallells 11.

El Capitan Upgrade can cause problems with installed Windows. It may still be recoverable.

From/run Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal, triple-click each of the following highlighted lines, Copy each line using (Command+C) and Paste (Command+V) in Terminal window. Post the output and after editing it to remove any personal information.

The "sudo" commands will prompt for your password, and it will not be echoed back. You may also see a warning about improper use of "sudo" and potential data loss due to "abuse" of the command.

A. We need to disable SIP.

1. Boot into Local Recovery (Command+R).

2. Start Utilities -> Terminal.

3. Type csrutil disable in Terminal and press Enter/Return.

4. Type csrutil status.

5. Boot normally, and type csrutil status to confirm that all individual entries are still disabled.

B. Correct the current MBR. Please ignore the i386 MBR error message, but not any other messages.

slight problem. I am on step B. I typed the command and got the response below which does NOT include an option for "p"

fdisk: illegal option -- /

usage: fdisk [-ieu] [-f mbrboot] [-c cyl -h head -s sect] [-S size] [-r] [-a style] disk

-i: initialize disk with new MBR

-u: update MBR code, preserve partition table

-e: edit MBRs on disk interactively

-f: specify non-standard MBR template

-chs: specify disk geometry

-S: specify disk size

-r: read partition specs from stdin (implies -i)

-a: auto-partition with the given style

-d: dump partition table

-y: don't ask any questions

-t: test if disk is partitioned

`disk' is of the form /dev/rdisk0.

auto-partition styles:

boothfs 8Mb boot plus HFS+ root partition (default)

hfs Entire disk as one HFS+ partition

dos Entire disk as one DOS partition

raid Entire disk as one 0xAC partition

HI Loner T. It's me again. So I extracted the file i needed on the windows side, erased the partition, purchased a windows 10 home copy (on a usb drive) and am trying to install windows via bootcamp. but i am running into problems. When i open bootcamp assistant and click "continue," it doesn't take me to the screen where you specify the partition size and browse for the iso file i created from the windows software. The only options i have are to check the "download the latest windows support software from apple" and "install Windows 7 or later version" When i click continue from there it is looking for an empty usb drive that download some of the info to. can you help with this? i don't remember it being this complicated 5 years ago when i installed windows 7.
