Does anyone have instructions or a how to setup iphone so you can hear text messages over car speakers via Bluetooth?
I have an iPhone 5 with ios 9.2 connected to Nissan Altima via Bluetooth and it will receive calls.

I Just upgraded from a Samsung Galaxy S4 back to th iPhone family with an iPhone 7. I have a Dodge Ram, I used to be able to have my text messages read through my speakers and be able to reply and I can't get that set up with my iPhone. What do I do? I have hit the "I" to show notifications and the messages still don't come through.
It isn't a solely a phone OS option -- it is related to the car. I have two vehicles (same brand, different models and different years). One supports text messages and the other does not. If I open the Bluetooth setting for one, that option is there, for the other that option is not shown as that car doesn't support a texting interface to my iPhone. That is one reason I gave the link to the Nissan sight where they may have information for your specific vehicle model and year.
On my iPhone with another car manufacturer the following works: Settings > Bluetooth and then tap the blue i in a circle beside the vehicle name and turn on Show Notifications. There may be additional steps that are vehicle specific. See: http://www.nissanusa.com/bluetooth
Well on my iPhone when it is connected to the car Bluetooth and you go to the settings you suggest that option does not even show up. What you suggest appears to be an OS option but it is not present on my phone.
Thank you for that link. I did check out the website. They do not have any info for iPhones using ios 9 yet. ios 9 is not tested yet by Nissan. They did have info for windows phone using windows 8.1 os and it says sms is not available. I know that the windows phone information concerning sms messages on Altima over Bluetooth is incorrect because I have used it and it reads sms messages over the speakers. So the info from the manufactures may not always be accurate.
