A new Mac comes with 90 days of free tech support from AppleCare.

      AppleCare: 1-800-275-2273

This is not normal, but can happen.

As Dominic says, you can call AppleCare and get a tech to lead you through the steps to fix the issue or you can make an appointment with a Mac Genius to help you. Or, you could hold the power button for about 10 seconds to turn the computer off. Then power the computer back on. Stalling on setup isn’t common but it does happen. Three things are possible at this point. 1) You’ll have to go through the setup process again and it shouldn’t stall this time. 2) you’ll boot normally as if the setup had worked properly (because it did). 3) the computer continues to give you trouble. If #3 happens, call AppleCare. You’ll be walked through the steps to (hopefully) resolve it.
