My wacom tablet utility is missing on my iMac

I have an iMac running OS Yosemite. I've just bought an Intuos pro. I currently have a Wacom Graphire but I just can't seem to get rid of the old Wacom drivers (therefore I can't install new drivers for my intuos pro.)
I don't have a file called "Wacom Tablet" in applications. I have one called "Tablet" & when I double click on "Remove tablet" an error message pops up saying;
You can’t open the application “RemoveTablet” because PowerPC applications are no longer supported.

I know I have to get rid of the old graphire drivers but I'm at a loss how to do this?

I've called Wacom who've emailed me instructions on how to uninstall drivers but there's no info on what to do if you have no folder called "Wacom Tablet."

Help would be much appreciated!

Thank you,

Paula.

The problem you are having is the Wacom Tablet Utility, "Remove Tablet", that is on your computer was written for PowerPC Macs which haven't been made for 10 years which is why it won't run. You would need to manually locate any Wacom files on your iMac and delete them. did you try running the Intuos Driver Installer and it gave you a message you need to uninstall the old ones first?

Hi - thanks so much for your reply... I followed the instructions in the intuos manual that said to put the disk in - that's when it threw up a message to uninstall the old wacom drives first. I have tried searching (in spotlight) for Wacom, tablet etc but nothing comes up. Can you suggest what I should be searching for in order to manually delete? Thanks!

Hi there, following your question

did you try running the Intuos Driver Installer and it gave you a message you need to uninstall the old ones first?

I've just stuck in the CD again & it actually says "platform not supported" when I click on install tablet.

My mistake - there was no message saying to uninstall the old drivers first.

So - I've downloaded the driver from Wacom & it's installed. I've now plugged it all in & it's charging. (Pen doesn't work yet though..) and my old wacom still works too.

Thanks for your help!

I have an old Wacom graphire tablet and wrote to them because with the upgrade to Yosemite (not ready for El Capitan here) the tablet's configuration no longer shows in the system settings. Wacom's answer is that I need to buy a new tablet 😟
Mine still works, it just is not configurable anymore.

Hi there - that's really not very good is it? I'm hoping to donate my old graphite tablet to my son's Y1 class but I'm a bit concerned it may be more hassle than it's worth for them! It's so annoying when the tablet is working fine. The reason I bought a new one was that the cursor was flickering a bit when I use illustrator & go in very close to my artwork. Also the "snap to guides" was intermittent which is irritating. I'm hoping those will be better now!

I agree that it's kinda crummy they insist you buy a new one. It's just they're not compatible with Yosemite they say. So? Write a driver you lazy bums! 🙂

They're a lot more expensive now for the better ones. I might go with a different brand if I wind up buying one.

I don't see how the tablet can cause flickering on your screen unless there is a defect with the pen itself. Let me know how it fares with the flickering.
