Apple TV 3 - Freezes, reboots, lags for no reason

After the last update I noticed our a1427 device started to lag a bit.


it is now unusable. The device will freeze up, reboot even when I try and go into the settings.


i have done the whole tturn it off at the wall thing, tried using Ethernet rather than wifi etc. nothing is working. I fear I have a dud device after the update (...thanks)


the the device is used for Netflix and home sharing, with a bit of AirPlay. If the device is just sitting idle for more than 5 minutes or so it will reboot itself.


is this common? Can I fix this thing?

Take a look at the link I sent. I think the most imortant thing is to make sure it's a "data" cable and not just a "charging" cable...


Here's what you need

  • A computer with iTunes
  • A high-speed Internet connection
  • A USB-C cable for Apple TV (4th generation) or a Micro-USB cable for Apple TV (3rd generation or earlier)
