S L O W filesearching archives on Xserve from windows

Xserve stores our job archives photos and graphics.

Management removed macs and supplied corporate PCs

Mac server remains, Graphics staff (still on Macs) can search archives readily/ speedily.

PC users can connect to the Archives (using their legacy Mac Username and Password) and navigate to Year/Month/Client / Jobnumber and retrieve files but CANNOT successfully search by job number.

eg on PC enter <<123456>>, search apparently begins, progress bar starts to move, but after minutes pass, still no search results.

How can I speed up the searching for Windows users?

Server Admin shows the Sharepont with :

Spotlight searching enabled
