Q: Allowances and  iTunes

I have set up an allowance for one of my children. In an Apple Support PDF about allowances it shows a Manage allowance option if you go to View Account from iTunes Store. I cannot see any  Manage Allowance on my account when I follow the instructions. Why not?

Also the same PDF mentions "If you want to control spending on this account (the account with an allowance), you'll want to remove any credit card information from this account"  I do not seem to be able to do that. If I try to removed the credit information from my account it says Family Sharing will be turned off which I do not want to do. I cannot access the credit account information when I log in under my child's account. How do I make sure my child can spend only their allowance ?

I am using the latest version of iTunes but am on Yosemite.

Thanks

You are logging into the account that you set up the allowance from : Set up and manage iTunes Allowance - Apple Support ? And the setting up of it appeared to go through ok, you didn't get any errors ? If it worked and nothing shows (and you've tried logging out and back in) then you could try contacting iTunes Support and see if they can see it on your account.

The 'control spending' section refers to the account that is receiving the allowance, not your account (if there isn't a credit card on its account then there is nothing to remove) - and as the family organiser in family sharing you can't remove your card from your account. In family sharing you can't limit spending, when their balance runs out any purchases will be charged to the card on your account, depending upon their age you may be able to enable 'ask to buy' for their account so that you have to approve all of their purchases : Request and make purchases with Ask to Buy - Apple Support.
