Q: Cannot connect to a particular wifi network
I'm currently sitting in a coffeehouse, connected to their WPA2 wifi network with my MacBook.
I cannot connect to the same network with my iPhone 4s. It simply does not see it--other networks, yes, but not the coffeehouse's. I've tried resetting the iPhone; the other networks still appear, but not the one I want to join. I've tried connecting manually several times with "Other...", using my MacBook to verify the wifi's SSID/password, but the iPhone says that it cannot find the network let alone join it.
It's a very strong signal: the wifi bars are fully black in my MacBook's menu bar. My iPhone can see a half-dozen other wifi networks, including ones where the router isn't nearly as close as the one I'm trying to connect to. I can't/won't connect to the others: either they're password protected, or require a customer relationship, or aren't trustworthy.
What's going on?

Just a possibility.
The Wi-Fi network is on 5GHz band ( 802.11a/n/ac ). In the case iPhone 4S can not see it, because it only support 2.4GHz band ( 802.11 b/g/n ).
You can use mac to check the band ( and other information ) of the Wi-Fi network.
- Open Wi-Fi menu onto the menu bar while holding option key down.
- Move the cursor on the name of Wi-Fi name and wait a few seconds. ( no need to keep option key down, but don't clink )
- Check the Channel in the displayed information.
