I'm becoming increasingly annoyed that my Music shared content in cloud doesn't retain the alpha sorting for artists. Time and time again I need to 'force' iTunes to set surname first only for it to ignore this several days later on my iPad. For the umpteenth time I want Elvis Presley under "P" and Lou Reed under "R"!!
I Don't sort album artist, only artist. Any other workaround (apart from using Spotify)?

Which services are you using? iTunes Match, Apple Music, or both?
Given that album artist trumps artist I'd recommend you set both corresponding sort values.

Apple Music. I've tried both values but unfortunately no success. It looks like now it's only affecting several artists - gonna go investigate further. Such a user-unfriendly algorithm.
I gave Apple Music a trial, but I wasn't happy with its attempts to correct my metatdata. This is what it made of my single album Epocheclipse by Hawkwind. 1 cover art turned into 29! 😮
