logic pro 10.2.1 hangs on library open

My computer: Mac mini (Mid 2011)

Processor: 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5

Memory: 8GB 1333 MHz DDR3

Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB

I did not have this problem until after the Logic Pro 10.2.1 update.

My project has 16 audio tracks (7 of which are muted, and will probably be deleted eventually) and 13 midi tracks.

The only plugins I am using that did not come with Logic Pro is Melodyne. However, the Melodyne plugin is only on muted tracks and it is turned off. I've been using Melodyne for four months and have never seen a problem with it in Logic Pro.

Here's where I run into the problem: I add a new software instrument track. Then I click on the library icon to open the sound library and select an instrument. I get the rotating pinwheel, which never goes away. I have to do a forced quit.

I have restarted Logic Pro several times and re-tried the above steps. It hangs every time.

Everything else works as expected. But I cannot get past this problem.

I'm having the same issue. I've sent the following bug report to both Apple and Melodyne.

Issue:

Clicking the Library tab for a software instrument track crashes Logic Pro X if the project includes an audio track with the Melodyne plugin loaded.

To duplicate:

Create new Logic Pro X project.
Add a Software instrument track. You can toggle the “Library” tab on and off at this point.
Add and audio track. On the software instrument track you can still toggle the “Library” tab on and off at this point.
Add Melodyne plugin audio track.
Now clicking on the “Library” tab for the software instrument track will lock the application requiring a force quit of Logic Pro X.

Environment:

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013)

2.3 GHz Intel Core i7

16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Macintosh HD

Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB

Logic Pro X 10.2.1

OS X El Capitan 10.11.2

Melodyne 4.0.2

I have this same _exact_ problem with Logic hanging when clicking the "Library" icon or a track "Setting" button, but only for projects where the Melodyne 4 plugin is applied to some track in the project. Projects where I do not use the Melodyne 4 plugin do not have this problem. I have also reported this to Apple and Ceremony. Please update this thread if you determine some resolution for this ( I will do the same).

Thanks. I obviously had not yet realized that the problem only occurred when Melodyne was loaded--probably because I just upgraded to Melodyne 4 last week. I hope Apple or the Melodyne people come up with a fix soon. But at least I now know how to work around the problem.

Yes, this problem caught me earlier this week. Just to add, my crash or hang occurred when trying to select a channel strip setting form the header of the Master fader in the mixer tab. Same scenario otherwise however, Melodyne 4.0.2 on an audio track within the project.
