Q: iMessage,FaceTime Won't Activate

Been messing with this phone for 2 days and I just can't get the iMessage or FaceTime to activate.

I purchased a sprint iPhone 4s a month ago, was using it as a wifi phone...had it all activated and working perfectly fine. Decided to restore the phone and set it up for my son with his apple ID, but now for two days it will say there is an error activating or it will stay stuck at waiting for activation. I reset all the settings tried many tips and tricks I found on google and even restore the phone a second time...yet it still won't activate iMessage or FaceTime.

any help?

iPhone 4S, iOS 9.2.1, null

If you get an error when trying to activate iMessage or FaceTime

Or, make an appointment at the Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar and take it in for service. If you are not in the USA or cannot set up an appointment this way, then contact your local Apple Store directly.

The phone was purchased on ebay I don't want to have to pay to get it serviced. It worked perfectly fine before, thinking maybe there is something wrong with his apple id account as for I can't add him properly to family sharing and approve request to change birthdate.

Also I've tried all the steps in the link you posted already, and still not working.

Does the phone have an active cell account? If it does not and an email is not checked for the IM and FT then it may not be able to place a call to Apple servers to activate

Have you checked to see if your son's Apple ID is checked as a potential area of origination and receiving of iMessage and FaceTime?

This is in Settings - Messages - Send and Receive

No there is no active cell carrier on it...plan on using it as a wifi phone basically which is what I did a month ago. When I turned on iMessage I selected "Use your Apple ID for iMessage" and I signed in with his Apple ID and password...sometimes it says there is an error, sometimes it says cannot connect, sometimes it says I have to verify the email address but when I log in to the account there is nothing to verify. Everything is already verified...

There is no Sim card in the phone either. I've tried putting it in airplane mode and wifi on but it still won't go.

What I don't understand is it worked perfectly a month ago and now since I've restored it threw itunes it doesn't work anymore.

Also what's shown in your pictures isn't what's on my screen but it does say send and receive and it's his Apple ID showing.
