Q: VGA Adapter issues withe Macbook Air 13 (Early 2015)

I recently purchased a Macbook Air 13" (early 2015).  I am having issues connecting through a VGA Adapter to a Samsung monitor.

I can only get resolution at either 800x600 or 1280x1024.

The graphics card is shown as an Intel HD Graphics 6000 1538 MB

I also have a MacBook Air 13 (Early 2014) and do not have this issue. I can get a resolution up to 1920 x1200 using the same hardware.

The graphics card is shown as an Intel HD Graphics 5000 1538 MB

I also checked ion each Mac under the Systems/Library/Extensions directory.  On the older MAC there were extensions for the AppleIntelHD5000Graphics card.  However on the newer Mac there were no extensions for the AppleIntelHD6000Graphics.

Did the drivers mistakenly not get loaded?

MacBook Air, OS X El Capitan (10.11.3), 8GB RAM , 512GB Storage

    Hello egmeuse,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

I see that you are having issues with using an external display with your MacBook Air. I would start by resetting the NVRAM on your MacBook.

How to Reset NVRAM on your Mac

If that doesn't resolve your issues, then take a kid at the steps provided in this article:

Get help with video issues on external displays connected to your Mac

    Best regards.

I performed the NVRAM Reset and the issue has not resolved.  I don't not have the issue using the HDMI adapter.  I have 2 coworkers who have the same  issue with the same version of MacBook Air (13 inch early 2015).  I still think there is an issue with the video driver.

Does anyone have the same problem?

    Dear all,

I have recently purchased a macbook air 11" (Early 2015) and I have exactly the same issue described here. HDMI OK, VGA NOT ok. The screen works but with bad resolution and same thing with my TV on VGA.

I also have a macbook air Early 2013 with Intel HD 5000 and it works perfect with the same monitor display.

Please, can you provide a solution? it is mandatory for me to work.

    Regards,
