Elgat Capture HD USB works with MacBook Pro but not mini?

Here's my sob story,

bought the elgato hd capture. Plugged it in to my MacBook Pro mid 2009. Works, i can see picture n sound.

But the fan is loud so I use my Mac mini.

Doesnt work. No device found. But the Tv gets picture.

I went through the elgato support page. But no good. Went through the steps that you can google right off the bat.

I Think it's the USB on the mini but I'm not sure what to do from there

Try uninstalling and then reinstalling the Egato's software.

Sorry.

None of these options seemed to of helped.

I even swapped the usb for a new one.

This is what the set up basically looks like...

I have a cintiq 18sx that dvi to hdmi adapter. That has a hdmi to thunderbolt adapter.

Im thinking this might be the issue. All these adapters could be messing with the legato?

The usb on the cintiq isn't plugged in (its for the pen) but its the monitor I use to navigate around the computer.

I get picture on my tv, which means the usb from the elgato is getting power. But every time i launch the el gato software, the screen goes black.

And the mini doesn't respond to it.
