How to delete PowerPC log-in items?

My computer has been running slowly since the El Capitan update. With the help of this forum,I have identified a handful of issues in the system that I have fixed and sped up my computer.

Recently I deleted several log-in items that were connected to deleted programs that increased my boot-up time tremendously. However, I appear to have one remaining log-in item from an old HP scanner I used to own. OSX will not let me delete it, and the old uninstall program will not run because it was a PowerPC relic. I tried downloading newer drivers from HP hoping they might allow me to delete this log-in, to no avail.

Subsequently, I deleted all remaining HP software from my machine. Strangely, that seemed to make boot-up take longer now. I'd like to eradicate this dinosaur fossil from my OS in hopes of improving performance. Any suggestions?

Would this be the HP Scanjet item marked as unknown? Did you select it then click on the Delete [-] button? What happens when you do?

Old systems not only used Login Items, but they also used StartupIems located in either or both of the Library folders by the same name. You should also check the /System/Library/Extensions/ folder for any old extensions that don't belong.

Lastly, I would fully uninstall your HP ScanJet software, download the most current version and install it, if you still have the printer.

I see I have an Adobe launch item failing. Could that be it?

You can check to see if you've removed all of the files by downloading and running Find Any File to search for any files with the application's name and the developer's name in the file name. For example for the HP Scant you'd do the following search:

1 - Name contains HP Scanjet

Any files that are found can be evaluated and if unnecessary dragged from the search results window to the Desktop for deletion.

FAF can search areas that Spotlight can't like invisible folders, system folders and packages.
